Chapa (Pezão Lateral)

Execution: The Pezão Lateral kick involves a swift direct kick with a sweeping leg motion. Capoeiristas typically perform this kick by turning their torso perpendicular to the opponent, bringing the bent leg close to the abdomen, and then abruptly extending it, aiming to strike the opponent with the heel.

Purpose: This kick is used for attacking the opponent. It is challenging to evade due to its speed and the fact that the kick is delivered directly. Upon impact, Pezão Lateral is powerful enough to strike the opponent effectively.

Power and Speed: The Pezão Lateral kick is known for its speed and strength. The rapid straight motion generates force that can be used to trip the opponent or deliver a significant blow.

Precision and Control: Like all Capoeira movements, control and precision are essential for the Pezão Lateral kick. Capoeiristas aim to execute the kick with accuracy to avoid injuring their opponent while still achieving their goal.

Roda Strategy: In the Capoeira roda (the circle where the game is played), the Pezão Lateral kick is employed for an aggressive style of play and attacking the opponent.

Acrobatics: Typically, in Capoeira, the Pezão Lateral kick is not combined with acrobatic elements, as it is more of an attacking move than a playful one.
